The holiday season in full swing. From work parties to family gatherings, this means that there will be delicious treats, sweets and desserts always close by! Don’t fret, there is there a way for you and your family to enjoy holiday treats without having to worry about the effect it will have on your oral health.
Just like many of you, I love holiday treats but was worried that they may not be very good for my teeth. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been book marking new recipes that are not only delicious, but are also easy to make and will help reduce the potential impact to my (and my patients’) oral health.
Here are some of my favourite oral health focused recipes that I wanted to pass along:
Apple Cinnamon Muffins
3/4 cup milk1⁄2 cup vegetable oil1 egg
1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced 2 cups flour 1/3 cup sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon Sugar to sprinkle |
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Beat the milk, oil, and egg together. Mix in the apple chunks. Stir in the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix well. Fill greased or lined muffin cups about halfway full. Sprinkle the top of each muffin with a little sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12 muffins. |
Orange Cider
